Welcome to The Unity Resource Centre
The Resource Centre was established by Unity to support people who find themselves out of work, due to redundancy and plant closures.  We link with most of the major trade unions and work in partnership with them so that everyone benefits.  The service is a comprehensive one-stop-shop service that supports people at all levels; shop floor workers, engineers, clerical staff, management etc.

We work tirelessly to make funding available for training and the other Support Services.  We also work closely with the mainstream agencies such as JobCentre Plus, Learning and Skills Council, Advantage West Midlands, and training providers to help people get back into work and update their skills at the earliest opportunity.
Redundancy Support Projects

The North Staffs Workforce Development Project 2004-2009 seeks to provide support and the opportunity for individual workers, within the ceramic and non-ceramic sectors in North Staffordshire, to train and re-skill / up-skill to meet the demands of the changing job market.

In addition, the project engages with beneficiaries in the workplace who are seeking to re-skill / up-skill to secure long term employment.  Such training will develop skills that are generic and transferable within the workplace.

The Better West Midlands Project 2006-2008 seeks to provide support for 5,000 workers who live or work in The West Midlands and who are affected by redundancy from within the Manufacturing Sectors.

The project is run on behalf of a consortium of trade unions that include Unite (combined T&G and Amicus), Community, GMB and Unity who are the lead body.

This partnership works with employers, worker groups and the key agencies is facilitating engagement with those affected at an early stage; often including the project in on-site consultations with management and thus promoting the learning agenda.
